NBA (National Basketball Association)

This is a North American Basketball League, composed of 30 teams, 29 from USA and one from Canada. Basically most of the teams represent certain states and it can therefore be said to be an inter-state Basketball League.

Composed of thirty teams of North America, founded in 1946 in New York as the Basket Association of America and headed by David Stern, The National Basket Ball is a professional Basketball League in North America. The name Basket Association of America changed to National Basketball Association after merging with their major rivals National Basket League. By then the NBA only had eight teams on board. Signing of new teams to expand the Association continued into the bigger cities. From the start, the league was African-American oriented, but in 1947, a Japanese team Wataru Misaka broke the color record by joining NBA.

The first team to dominate the NBA league was Minneapolis Lakers under their coach, George Mikan by winning five NBA championships in a row. Delays of play game were noted, and to avoid this, a 24-second shot clock was introduced. It stated that if a team does not attempt to score or make the ball contact the rim within 24 seconds, then the ball was to be given over to the opponent team. This made the NBA matches very dynamic and intense. After the Minneapolis Dynasty, came the Celtics era and then to the Jordan era, as teams kept exchanging their dominancy. Michael Jordan joined NBA in 1984 with The Chicago bulls, and led his team to a six straight NBA championship titles.

Since then, legends of NBA are being born each day from Iverson to Kobe Bryant. Court rivalry is being noted each day, while NBA-based film based on true life stories from NBA being made each day including BowWow’s like Michael.
